• Candidates must register with SASSA.
• An applicant who has not completed a degree cannot be considered.

• The next course in your degree program is open to you if you’ve already met all of the NSFAS criteria.
• Students must be enrolled in a University before the year 2018 and their total annual income should not exceed R122000.
• No criminal record is acceptable.

What Documents are Required to Apply for NSFAS in 2024?

The following documents are required before applying for NSFAS. These are the documents you need to have as a student in order to apply for NSFAS.

• It is important that you have an email address as well as a telephone number. The NSFAS is going to contact you using this email or phone number. If you want to view your NSFAS status online, then an email is required.
• It is mandatory to have an ID valid before you can apply for NSFAS funding. You should ensure that this ID card is valid so as to be able qualify for the grant.

• Please prepare a photocopy of your parent’s or guardian’s decease certificate, if applicable.

• A copy of your IRP5 tax certificate valid for an entire year should be kept on hand.
• In the case of a disability, you’ll be sent a Disability Annexe A that needs to be completed and submitted.
• Students who are orphans must complete the NSFAS Form. Please submit it to the department of social services, as this form also requires the signature.
• When a child’s vulnerability is determined, the form must be filled out by a parent or adult. In order to safeguard the well-being, safety and rights of children, a declaration and consent form for vulnerable children must be signed by either a guardian or an adult. The form acknowledges the fact that the vulnerable child requires extra attention and also provides permission for them to be involved in any program or activity.

What is NSFAS’s Application Procedure?

Here you will need to sign up for myNSFAS. Now you will create an account with myNSFAS. Create an account in myNSFAS. It’s easy.

1. Click on the “www.nsfas.org.za“, which is NSFAS’s official website.
2. You can now click on myNSFAS at the top right of the page.
3. On this page, you’ll see the new website and the form to complete.
4. Click or Tap on Create an Account.

UNISA Students can receive a grant of up to $2,000

The amount you receive after approval is shown below.

• Grant money of Rs.2900 is available if you have registered for NSFAS in more than 10 modules.
• For the first 4 modules, there is a R600 grant for learning material.

Scholarships For Students at University

You will receive the following amount for students in normal classes:

• The R7500 annual grant is for students who reside 40 km away from an university.
• The expenses will be covered for private accommodations.
• Your living costs can be covered by R15000 annually.
• You can receive R2900 annually as a care allowance.
• Receive R5200 as an annual book allowance.

TVET College Students Can Get Grant Money

The money you receive as a TVET-college student is:

• The Urban Area Grant is R24000 per annum.
• You can get R18900 as a Periurban Area Allowance.
• You can get R15750 as a rural area allowance per year.
• Transportation Allowance (R7350): If you live more than 40km away, this allowance is for you.
• Per year, you can receive R900 for personal care.
